I’d say Bladewood made the best of it. What kind of things have you built trying to make the best of it?

Came across this on Flickr. While I run my own webcomic, I really appreciate finding stuff like this. I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed.

As a bit of a follow-up to my recent post on Thinking Smaller & Tablescraps, I was excited to find this brilliant little build by Ewok in Disguise.

He’s really done a great job with taking a few pieces and putting them together in an effective way. There’s a sense where the creation feels well “greebled”, since a lot of those pieces would be used for greebling.

The mix of colors also works well. Ewok in Disguise explains a bit about his creation:

Cobbled together from used parts before the Evacuation, Rusty now wanders the abandoned streets of San Francisco in search of spare parts and old newspapers. He has taken an interest to human history, and hopes to meet one someday.

Here is Jordan Schwarz’s latest creation. A yellow frog?! Got to get me one of those. Here’s what Jordan had to say about this MOC:

I fell in love with the little yellow froggy from the new Harry Potter game Hogwarts and thought I’d build something featuring it. And light yellow is by far my favorite LEGO color, so I made this. Meet Buttered Toads. I don’t know who, what or why Buttered is, but here he is. Yup.

Yellow LEGO Frog

Need I say more? Okay, maybe a little, for those of you who don’t quite  recognize the ramifications of this. Well, for one, the LEGO Frog is already my absolutely favorite piece. They usually come in green, and sometimes in Dark-Bluish Grey or even Trans-Green. But this new yellow frog was just released in the new LEGO Harry Potter Board Game.

Helmet

Due to the Frog’s small size, it’s relatively easy to find helmets he’ll fit in for mechs. Frog mechs are not completely uncommon, though not exactly a “mainstream subtheme” … yet.

Fingers

Jordan’s done some pretty cool stuff here to give  the idea of the long “fingers” a frog would have (though admittedly the webbing is a little hard to accomplish in LEGO brick) — and also making them functionable and having “opposable thumbs.” Gorillas will be jealous.
(Notice that the thumb is actually a minifig hand.)

Joints

Looks like Jordan is combining some clip tiles with some hoze nozzles. He’s also got some nicely placed yellow droid torsos on the legs.
